Nearly all kinds of lanes at toll plazas do or can use electronic equipment for vehicle classification and vehicle separation. At toll plazas it is possible to use SICK's high-end overhead equipment based on LiDAR sensors and optionally cameras and AI algorithms which provides also excellent accuracy on open road tolling. Particularly for lanes at toll plazas, SICK offers as well very fast light grids to be mounted at the side of each lane for vehicle separation and/or classification including the counting of number of axles. The light grids can also be set-up as a system putting out not only raw data but ready to use vehicle classes and with some add-ons even the detection of dual tires.
