Determining the right dimensions and vehicle classes prior to the boarding process of such vehicles on ferries is crucial for correct invoicing. In order not to lose revenue sensor systems from SICK are being used for precise dimensional measurement and classification of the vehicles which want to drive on board of the ferry. This also helps to optimize the loading procedure. All this can be done automatically with SICK's sensor systems without the need for any manual interaction.
Even more, the vehicles can be checked for any overheated parts and/or dangerous goods declarations automatically just by passing a gantry. Particularly for refrigerated trucks and electrical vehicles, finding dangerous hot spots can prevent big fires and damages.
